O'Reilly Autoparts - AVOID!!

got denied using the $5 off $5 on the oil change kit (pan, funnel, towels, hand cleaner) and 5off5 on a price matched bottle of Meguiar's white wax-said no thanks. Guy scanned my coupon, last guys typed in the code, no idea if that made a difference.

Mine wouldn't scan and apply towards any sale priced items.
Had to be regular or clearance (from what I've heard) for it to work.

Find some $4.99 oil, add p/n 900-215 (I told them don't even bother to find the cotter pin, not needed) and you get $.02/qt oil. Its what I burned my last 11 coupons on.
Oh and I went with the Quaker State conventional - and also sent in 2x $10 warranty rebates - I might make $19 on those 11 quarts if the rebates come through.

You mean like their "List Price" of $11.17/quart for Maxlife Nextgen?

It's not really a "gimmick," from my experience. That price is there for the pro shops. The list price is the suggested price they charge customers.

It's probably not very relevant on oil, since most decent shops that do oil changes probably have bulk oil. But when I worked at a shop the list price from the auto parts store was generally what we charged customers for parts.

My local O'Reillys are fine. They're just a chain store like any other store. I go there for basic stuff like brake cleaner when it's on sale, since they're super close to my house. I order most parts online, but when I need something that day I usually get it from Advance (with discount codes), NAPA or Carquest.

Some of the complaints here can be more directed to the company, or based on the fact that no one except internet nerds used the coupons. Every time I used a $5 off $5 coupon the counter guy has said no one had ever used one before.

It appears they had to add a new function to the computer system for this promotion. A local manager mentioned that when showing a worker how to use the coupon. That may explain why it's difficult to use them, sometimes.

Which one did you go to? We usually use the one at La Cumbre, if you get the right person they will work with you. Our counter girl used to work there, she was the only one who knew what was going on. She has been with us for 2 years and will call them and tell them where to find stuff in their store.

I actually received that same email letter when I complained about the employee who turned a rotor for me and had the machine moving the cutting blade in too fast. It left a clear record groove in the rotor and it would squeal non-stop while driving.

The district manager called me directly, and apologized profusely. He had a new Bosch rotor waiting at the store for me, and told me to bring the receipt for the services with me and they would refund the $15, which they did.

Yes, they screwed up but they did everything I expect a reputable company to do when a mistake is made. I can't say I've had the same type of experiences from the other two in town.

Although I can walk to the La Cumbre store, I like the newer one on Milpas and the guys there were happy to help me use up all the coupons. Happened to stop by the one in Buellton one day and same thing. My local one is my least favorite to go to.
