If it does not clog the oil passageways, all it will do is coat it in black.

Wasn't there graphite infused motor oil once upon a time? Now this test is just scary to look at. I wouldn't do that to anything I drive.

Nonsense.

Graphite is a solid lubricant just like molybdenum disulphide and iirc in the 70s and 80s there was a brand of oil that used graphite in its formulation.
And ceratec uses sub-micron sized white graphite,only it uses it other common name:hexagonal boron.

So although it may not be optimal it's not going to hurt or damage the engine and it looks like most of it was filtered out anyway.
It would have been nice to see a used oil analysis of the oil just to see what kind of insols were present,just to use as a reference anyway.
Thanks for the neat test. Although I won't hold my breath it should shut the fram haters up.

Sure ARCOGRAPHITE was a very good oil, but the particle size is 15 to 20 time smaller and won't be filtered up. I've run it and oppened the filter, had nothing on the can/media. Can't compare to the test I did with powdered graphite, much more coarse substance.

These Fram Filters should be banned. I'm a mechanic and Have seen three fail where the engine was ruined. I tell all my customers they are using the Orange Can Of Doom at there own peril.

George, how long ago did you see these? Overuse/too many miles?

These days I'm confident Fram makes a decent product, even with the orange can. To me, it's on par with other low tier filters.

Adding stuff to the crankcase cant be a good way to test anything.

I am betting cheapest filter on the market would have caught the majority of the stuff.
