Opinions to buy new tires now, or wait until fall

2023 Honda CR-V, 235/60R18 16000 miles, OEM Hankook Kinergy GT down to 5-6 32nds

Originally planned to wait and search for deals closer to winter, but 1 tire has a very slow leak, about 1 pound every other week, and cant find where its leaking from.

The tires are loud and don't ride very well, so thought start looking now and started looking at Walmart website for a baseline price, and see if any other tire stores will price match.

The Continental TrueContact Tour 54, priced at $175.44, regularly $205, looks like a major upgrade. Any thoughts on that tire and price? Any other similar tires that considered a deal? And do summer and fall sales typically yield better deals?

Don't screw around if the tires are going or even if they're obnoxious. Get yourself a fine set that will keep you grounded.

The price listed on Walmart site is about $118 off for 4 without a mail in rebate, so a little better deal, have to see if a local place will price match.

I always use Costco for tires. If that's an option, you'll get a better tire and deal than WalMart.

I stay away from Hankook, Nitto, Goodyear, most Bridgestones, Firestone and especially Kuhmo. Weird imported name tires that are "just the same as" or "made in the same factory as" are to be avoided. Imported junk.

A quality Michelin is going to be #1, Pirelli makes some great tires. Conti and Yokohama often have great choices too.

You'll always find complainers on reviews.

Conti is a respected brand and I've had good tires from them. The model you're looking at isn't a WM exclusive, either.

You can always buy them now to lock in the price then get them mounted closer to fall.

With import taxes being the subject of controversy, I'd lock in what you perceive to be a deal.

If you're on more of a budget these GT Radials would serve you well for $102 ea.

Those tires are decent-but yes they are noisy. Of course-the vehicle in question is noisy as well.

I had the dealer replace the Hancook Synergy GT's on our 2025 HRV EX-L before we took delivery with the Continental TrueContact Tour 54's. Got a credit for the Hancooks. The Continentals have proven to be quiet, comfortable and enjoyable, Wet weather handling and traction is really excellent, no problems in light snow. I have Continental Extremecontact DWS06 plus on my Civic Touring Sedan, they are a totally competent High Performance All Season tire. Wouldn't hesitate to buy either again. The Hancooks, as you have discovered, are not a pleasant driving experience.

1-2psi a week is nothing, likely bead or rim, just overinflate 5-10 psi and drive on

Typically Conti has rebates in May and November.

Tirerack and Discount Tires always have some sort of instant savings or rebates available for a few manufacturers at a time.

What I'd do is suffer until I see a brand that I want to try go on sale or rebate. If the suffering is too much (like the factory toyos on the cx5), then I'll get a tire on a brand that currently has a rebate.

That said, I have the Conti TCT non-54 and I'm happy with them. They got me through the few inches of snow this winter just fine without thinking about putting on my blizzaks too.

My mom's Subaru Ascent has the Goodyear Reliants posted above. They're about as average no frills, no thrills, tire and I trust them. They seem to be wearing a tad faster than expected.
