Opinions on the Toyota Venza?

Never driven a Highlander so have no comparison, but my 2013 3.5l Venza is not sluggish. It's not going to win stoplight to stoplight races off the line, but once rolling, power comes on strong and smooth. Passing on city streets or hwy is not a problem at all but I'm not on severe terrain either, so who knows?
Sluggish is maybe the wrong word. Heavy might be better. It feels heavy. Even though if you get into the pedal, the v6 obviously outperforms the 2.7L in the older fwd one.

I service a 2010 with only about 150k. I kinda like the looks and the fact it's AWD.

It seems to share a fair bit of chassis ‐‐ or at least suspension-- parts with the Highlander

What shocked me on this one was the interior rattles. The vehicle seems in good to average condition but driving it was a noisy, rattly affair. Sounded all like interior rattles, not mechanical

Also they use the infamous Toyota door checks. NOT a big deal but see if the front doors stay open on a slight incline.

The one I service is owned by a stick of a woman with advancing MS and she nearly gets bowled over by the doors which are relatively huge. I tried to persuade them to let me address the door check at a VERY reasonable price, but they declined (shrug)

Mine is weak on the drivers door but is only a minor annoyance for me. Is it just a matter of replacing the door check or is there some mod that works? Does the OEM replacement have a new design or is there a better aftermarket option?

No rattles yet but still have a ways to go to get to 150k.

I believe I had sourced OEM for ~$50. It was last fall and I can't remember.

I think you can install the rebuild kits that are widely available on ebay. Oddly, they seem to all come out of Russia but the auctions seem legit as people report receiving the product. I could be wrong that these kits work here.

If you're lucky, you can find a 4-cylinder FWD Venza. Most of them have AWD, and most of them also have the V6, too. The I4 FWD will get you the best economy.

They also use oversize wheels. You don't need 20-inch wheels. You can downsize to 17 with no problem.

Do you know which OEM Toyota 17" rims fit?

I read that most 17" HL, RAV4, Sienna, RX rims should fit, but there was some mention of calipers possibly rubbing. They didn't specify which one(s) to avoid.

I guess 18" would be another option without fear of caliper issues, but there are more 17" OEM choices.

Someone successfully used 17" Camry wheels
