I, have used the Lubegard products in my transmission with no problems. Would like to here opinions on the engine protectant. Does this product offer any cleaning ability like ARX or would it be classified along with duralube/slick 50. I, don't see alot of discussion on this particular product. Curious to others opinions.

It has nothing in common with ARx or Duralube or any other product.

The patent it is made under (4,873,008) describes a jojoba oil, with either a sulfurized jojoba oil or a phosphite adduct of jojoba oil as an additive to lubricating oil.

"The compositions of the present invention provide superior lubricating characteristics, having antifriction characteristics and antiwear and load-carrying properties that are superior to any one compound alone. Improved antifriction characteristics may result in reduced fuel consumption for internal-combustion engines and lowered operating temperatures when used in engines and other industrial machinery."

Jojoba oil is a natural mixture of straight-chain, unsaturated, monocarboxylic acid esters.

If it works as advertised, it would act as a friction modifier, increase the polarity of the oil to which it is added, and also act as an antioxidant.

The problem is that it's fairly expensive and the tests necessary to verify the claims are probably too expensive for anyone on this board to conduct.

However, in the interest of curiosity, I did buy a 15 oz bottle of it and am using it in a stationary engine, a single cylinder Tecumseh. This will allow me to stretch the bottle out over multiple oil changes and see what I can find out.

I have used the Lubegard Bio Tech Engine Protectant. Just my opinion but the engine in my car seemed to run smoother. But the Lubegard product is expensive to use for every oil change.

Lubegard products used to be very common in automatic transmission shops. I don't know if this is true or not today but it was certainly true in the past. I have not used Lubegard transmission supplements because I have owned cars with manual transmissions for a long time.

One Lubegard product that impressed me very much was the Lubegard power steering supplement. I used some in a power steering unit that made noise in cold weather. The Lubegard product quickly eliminated that noise.

I was going to try out the Lubegard engine flush before I came to this website and discovered Auto-RX. But I never got a chance to try the flush product.

I still have some faith in Lubegard products but I have not used any in a long time. The engine oil supplement in my opinion is too expensive but the automatic transmission and power steering supplements and transmission cleaning products seem to be good products.

I would rather use Auto-RX to clean an engine but if Auto-RX was not available I might be willing to try some of the Lubegard flush.

Lubegard is still on my short list of stuff I am willing to use.

Lubeguard uses a set of natural and synthetic esters in their formulations.

Lubeguard's ATF supplement was great in transmissions before DexronVI and the improved ATF's came on the scene.

I would use ARX for cleaning an engine, if that is what you are trying to do.

There is nothing in the patent materials or manufacturer's claims on Lubegard Bio Tech Engine Protectant that would indicate it has any particular cleaning properties.

I second your motion.

Well I, am not looking for something that cleans. I, saw the bottle of Lubegard at the local Napa and was looking for opinions of those who may have used it, if it indeed worked as advertised for them. Like I, mentioned I, don't see alot of discussion on Lubegard products here. To me at least in my opinion, the bottle read more like a duralube or slick 50 product, and those I, know are not well thought of here.

MolaKule certainly should know what he is talking about. If Lubegard is not really needed anymore because of improvement in ATF fluid than maybe Lubegard really has become a historical set of products.

The Lubegard Bio Tech Engine Supplement just seems too expensive to me regardless what benefits it might bring to reducing engine friction and wear. But I will say, having used the product, that in my own personal opinion my engine seemed to run better.

Like I said I still have some faith in Lubegard products. But if the time for Lubegard products has come and gone my list of acceptable supplements has become very small.

I like Auto-RX for cleaning an engine. For the price it seems worth trying every 25,000 miles or at least on a high mileage vehicle a person might be attempting to drive a ways further.

Auto-RX is at the top of my list. Otherwise I like Regane in the clear bottle (which I was unable to find at Wal-Mart recently), or else Chevron fuel system cleaner, Bars Leaks, and Stabil. All other supplements I avoid.

Really, a person could go a long way just using good quality motor oil, good quality oil filters, air filters, etc., and not use any supplements at all.

They used to be a staple so the shops could stock only Dexron-Mercon ATF and add the supplement to meet almost any transmission need. In recent years the lubricant additive makers have new additive packages that make the ATF nearly universal, and the supplements are needed much less often. These near-universal fluids don't exactly meet the manufacturer's specs, but near enough so the transmissions run fine.

I've used the Lubegard power steering supplement and found immediate difference in easier operation...I don't know if the result lasted long, or if I just got used to the feeling.

One of the reasons I was really sold on Lubegard products was because of the way that Lubegard power steering supplement seemed to be able to immediately solve the problem I was having with a power steering unit.

And I know it is not scientific but the Lubegard Bio Tech Engine Supplement did seem to make my car engine run smoother. It is just too expensive to use with every oil change.

I think the Lubegard automatic transmission supplements still are worthwhile. If I had an automatic transmission I would probably use the transmission supplement.

The Lubegard engine flush is interesting because instead of some solvent it is supposed to use safe detergents. But I never tried the flush.

Lubegard has other interesting products for safely cleaning automatic transmissions during servicing and also for lubricating rebuilt engines.

I think there is probably still usefulness for some of these products.

I have used it and like it but I don't subscribe to the theory because it is sold in a store it is bad. I also know that because a product is sold in stores it does not make it good either. I would say try it and see what you think.

it is a good product the developer of lubegard was a developer for mobil 1 years ago, so take it with a grain of salt. He does know what he is talking about.....
