2017 Infiniti QX50 - Opinion on replacement brakes?

So I've been staring at this way too long and need another opinion.

I gotta swap my front brake pads on my 2017 Infiniti qx50 (alaex37/j50)

So I was thinking oem pads and rotors were alright but the shortest interval my pads lasted ever (2 years)

So I thought maybe after market? Akeebono makes great pads act and asp?

I just saw power stop kits with mostly good reviews, though i always avoided drilled rotors but these slotted and drilled rotors have great reviews.


Idk what would you guys use as relacment brakes? I do a lot of highway driving, driving in bumper to bumper traffic to speeding and doing hard stops on the highway lol longevity and braking performance are important even though they are opposites but I need opinions lol

Open to any suggestions on what your preferred pad and rotor combo is for daily driving. Should be equal or better than factory lol

Akebono stopped making the ASP high performance pads. However, the ACT pads are still made and still a good choice that won't be dusty

The Powerstop coated rotors are awesome.

Asp being discontinued makes a lot of sense it's oos everywhere except from.some.stores super far out on the country that have stock still.

Do you think blank or slotted power stops with act pads is a good combo? Debating if the slotted would cause the pads to wear too quick. The cooling would be nice since my rears were badly glazed when I swapped those out

Yea I always thought for daily driving slotted and especially drilled were worse

I have personal experience with Bendix & PowerStop Autospecialty which are basically OE equivalent rotor blanks and Durago E-Coated that have beautiful machining and metallurgy. I have used in a pinch O'Reilly BrakeBest Semi coated/painted rotors with fine results just wouldn't normally pay the brick and mortar prices unless as stated in pinch which was 2 o'clock on a Saturday and had to get my wife's car back together. OE I just wont touch not worth it for the price.

Looks like the front pads for your rig have a HH rating for friction coefficient which should be a nice upgrade from stock.

that's not entirely accurate. stock OE pads are almost guaranteed to be a NAO low metallic installing ceramic pads such as the brembo even having a higher coefficient of GG and say the OE are FF its an apples to oranges comparison. also an opinion you may love the brembo some may not. I myself wasn't thrilled over them they were noisy, pads fit the brackets loose and they required a little bit more footwork to do the same the PowerStops did which were FG pads. I would not purchase pads based on the linings rating.
