Opinion on Motorcraft filters ....

It's been brought to my attention on my last UOA that my OEM Isuzu filter's are not filtering as well as I thought.

I have tried Puralator premium plus, STP, AC Delco, and Mobil 1 filters in the past, they seem to all make this non-ticking truck TICK.

The Wix/Napa Gold filter did not make it tick with a 5w30 winter oil, but does make it tick with the 5w-40 oil that I use for summer.

Fram (only used 3 times), Bosch and OEM filter are the only three that don't cause it to tick, but I have yet to try the Motorcraft or Puralator Pure 1 filters.

I'm a bit leary on the Puralator 1 - too restrictive?

What's your opinion on Motorcraft?
 
I use Motorcrafts on all my cars,(6). I'm running some of them for 1 year or 7500 miles. I've cut open a dozen or so. IMO, They are the best bang for the buck. I have 15 FL1As on the shelf right now. Enough for 3 years.
 
At Wal*Marts, it'll cost you just over $3 to find out. While you are there, buy a Super Tech filter to try for the oil change interval after that.
 
You can't go wrong with either Motorcraft or Pure1. I have a huge stash of regular Purolators (Premium Plus)due to the latest Pep Boys sales. I'm only into them for $1.99 even if I don't get the rebate. They have either been .99 or .01 with the rebate, way better price than even Wally's Super Tech.
 
I've regularly run Motorcrafts for 10-15K mile intervals.
Great bargain, when purchased at Walmart!
 
Whenever I'm forced to go to WalMart (shudders) I always grab an FL400 and an FL820 for my stash at $3.28 a pop. Drives my wife crazy...

RamblinFever, Yes, the PureOne is too restrictive. The Motorcraft FL820S has a silicone anti-drainback valve (and one other size in Motorcraft has that, too).

The P1 is one of the most highly regarded filters on this site. It might have more restriction that some filters, but to say it is "too restrictive" is bunk. If for example, it provides 135% of the oil required by an engine instead of 150% and that oil has less particle count of a certain size, is there any harm?
Bottom line, there is no evidence anywhere on this site that I have seen, showing a P1 has caused any engine damage due to it's so called "restrictive" nature.
 
ALL properly calibrated oil filters will supply sufficient oil volume to meet an engine's lubrication needs. The question really comes down to how much of the time will the filter be in bypass mode to do so? Finer filtration means more restriction from which follows more of a tendency to go into bypass mode when demanding high output from the engine.
 
Isuzu uses a fairly common filter. The part number is shared with Dodge, Ford, Mercury, Mitsubishi, Yanmar and others according to Wix. If ther is a Motorcraft that crosses with a 51334 Wix will work with Isuzu.
 
Use MC on my F150. Good filter, good price. Had to buy a case of them when our local Walmart decided to stop selling them. Got the manager and offered to buy a case at 2 bucks each, he jumped on it. Just hope the truck outlast the filters or I get another one that fits.

That is not true. The Motorcraft FL-810 is a direct replacement for the Purolator L14459, which is the exact fit for Honda's, Hyundai's, and some Subaru's. I'm not sure about Isuzu, though.
