Porsche 996 or 997. Deal with the IMS if it concerns you (~$1800 for a very exaggerated problem) and enjoy the car. Easy to own, very well built, great owners community and easy to do your own maintenance. Parts are expensive, but easily available. Do a PPI, find a local independent for the work that you don't want to do and enjoy the car. Certain years do not have a replaceable IMS so bear that in mind if you are concerned. Your price range may get you a decent C4 or a Cab.
Yes you will hear the "...$$$ to own...engine is a grenade..etc." but talk to folks who have actually owned them for a long time for valid experiences. Same for the contemporary Boxster if you can live with 2 seats, but they are a little less useable as a DD.
