New car alert! 2022 Mazda CX-5 carbon edition

Took delivery just in time for the snow. We are suppose to get hammered next week.

I have been impressed with our 2017 CX5. Driving on snow or ice or any combination has been without any spin or anxiety. A couple of years ago I had the opportunity to test it on packed snow and ice plus bare pavement. Driving on a street with packed ice on the shady side and bare pavement on the other was uneventful despite me turning the wheel back and forth.

They changed the AWD system (again) for the latest gen. Rather than rely on 27 different sensors for information input, they realized it was better to simply send power to the tires with most load.

Coleman explains it at the 3:55 mark. This is for the 3 but applies across the line.

Now I remember that probably from here. Is this the same AWD setup that Toyota has I wonder?

The computerized system always amazed me in a techie way.

Couple pictures after being ceramic coated today. My mom always takes the worst pictures, cuts half the car out lol. The color is pretty amazing looking.

We had a 1st gen Ford Fusion that had a lot of Mazda DNA and it was a great car. Hoping that the CX-5 will not disappoint

manual says 0w-20, outside US/CAN, their manuals say 5w-30.

and the engine does not have a reputation of carbon buildup and has a reputation of being bulletproof. 6-speed transmission has a good reputation too.

Toyota bought 5% of Mazda a few years ago, likely lots of Toyota tech is finding its way into the new Mazdas

I don't know what awd system Toyota used in the 2013 rav4 but it was truly remarkable and a tank especially when the 4wd electronic locker switch was enabled. All I had was the all season Yokohama tires made it through scary amounts of snow.
