I have around 35k miles on the Mercon III that's in my 91 5-speed festiva. Since it's got cold you can hear a whine till it warms up. Didn't do this last year, and my aspire doesn't do it. I thought it would last longer than 35k since the factory fluid still looked good at 87k. The manual states 60k is the recommended life span. The clutch might be shot but doesn't slip so i'm not planning on changing it. Thoughts anyone?

You should probably change it every 30K. 87K was likely too long for the original fluid.

If my addition is correct, you have in the order of 122K on the clutch. I can't fathom you getting much more than that out of a 91 Festiva
clutch.

I hope you don't break down on the side of the road this winter in a snow storm!

My dad got 170k out of his last clutch on his 91 Festiva. Although after looking at the clutch on my parts car at 107k it didn't have much life left, doesn't take much to move those little cars though.
