One size fits all ATV/utv oil

I can’t stand what Walmart has done to rural America.... I just refuse to spend money with them
Really unfortunate that you didn't include this in your original post.

So, the criteria *really* is that it has to be locally AND easily available... but NOT at a Wal-Mart... and that buying it online is NOT desired either.

Do you happen to have a Tractor Supply or a Rural King, wherever it is that you reside?

I’ll order online if it’s also something I can probably find close to home. Like most big brands. Boutique oils are out. Many farm stores in the area, all the major parts stores, etc.

This is an instance where principal matters more than money to me. I can’t stand what Walmart has done to rural America. Call me crazy or whatever but I just refuse to spend money with them
Auto parts stores carry the same oil for $2 to $4 more per quart. O'Riley's had their self titled 10w-40 power sport oil for about $9 or $10 a quart.

Yep, which is precisely why I rarely buy oil there. Farm stores tend to do just fine on pricing. Usually within 50 cents of Walmart last time I looked it up

I’m looking for recommendations on one oil to use for my ATV and UTV “fleet”. Trying to simplify my life and save a dollar. I have a 2015 Kawasaki Mule Pro FXT and a 2015 Suzuki King Quad 400. Both call for 10w40.
Criteria:
- I’d prefer a full synthetic but would consider a synthetic blend I suppose
- I want value but I don’t want to spend $18 a quart and I don’t want some cheap garbage no one has ever heard of.
- Any oem brand or known oil brand is fine by me.
- I need 6 quarts for immediate use, if someone is aware of a good sale or close out oil I could scoop up that’s much appreciated

Mobil 1 at a auto parts store or bRotella available nearly everywhere.

If it’s not a power sports oil I’m not very interested. Thanks though

People often overthink these JASO applications.

I've found this helpful to understand the differences
https://oilspecifications.org/articles/JASO_MA_JASO_MB.php
Think of the MA specs as a broad range regarding the frictional requirements, and then the MA1 and MA2 as the lower and upper ends of those, respectively.

Many non-energy-conserving lubes which are API SG or higher would meet the MA specs.

I personally use Peak 10w-40 SM in my 2022 KingQuad 400. Not because I'm loyal to it, but because I got it for free and it fits my needs just fine. Not had one issue with shifting.

Re-read this comment. Bottom line: your emotional wants are irrelevant to what your "fleet" needs.

Mobil 1 makes power sports oil, hence the recommendation. Rotella T6 is MA / MA 2 exceeds requirements and many people use it in their gas, diesel and powersports equipment. Any of the listed Unicorn Tears available locally to you will work.

O’Reilly Auto Parts sells Castrol Power1 4T syn 10W-40 for $12 per quart. Been using it for years.

I’ll look into the Mobil 1. I’m skipping the T6.

Walmart offers Super Tech along with Valvoline 10-40 synthetic

Both wet clutch certification JASO M2

I’ve run them both in my ‘18 Teryx which holds 4 quarts

If it was me and if you can wait 1-2 more months, the typical Autozone or Advance always have a sale during Spring months like March or April for as long as I can remember. Then it’s back to msrp for 10 months. So the ATV specific synthetic 10w40 will be under $10/liter for brands like Valvoline, Mobil 1, and maybe Castrol for your fleet.

I would use:
Mobil 1 Racing 10W-40 (AutoZone, Advance Auto Parts)
Valvoline Full Synthetic 10W-40 (AutoZone, Advance Auto Parts)
Motul 7100 10W-40 (this one is available online only)

If you want to support local businesses just go to your local power sports or farm shop and get any full synth 10W-40, if the above oils are not available.

I've been running whatever is on sale 10W30 in my polaris scrambler 500 for 25 years now and it is still going. The only thing that doesn't last is tires.

I’ve used Castrol Actevo 10w40 synthetic blend in my 2022 Kawasaki Teryx S model since new. Also used it in my KLR 650 and 1000 VStrom with excellent results. Just got 6 quarts from Amazon for $35.

Have you ever used Rocky Mountain ATV for parts ?

Good guys…Payson Utah..

I have used Valvoline ATV oil for many years in Hondas. Excellent service. I have used RP, and Amsoil, and of course Honda oil.

If you have a commercial lawnmower store locally, like Scag or Bob-cat it is likely they have 10w40 MA oil there. The most common commercial mover engine is Kawasaki, and it uses 10w40 MA oil. You can also find it at Tractor Supply, and HomeDepot\Lowes etc.

I remember reading somewhere,......where ATV oil and motorcycle oil are typically formulated differently, as ATVs run hot and while are air cooled, dont run a high speeds.......not sure there is much truth to it. Might be.

I think I’ll probably settle on Valvoline but I was looking at Mag1 at the farm store today. Warren hasn’t led me astray yet I guess but unsure on it.

I would use Mag1, never seen it local. Some things run smoother with other oils, never know until you try
