In small engines, which is better for longevity?
One piece vs three piece oil rings for OPE.

Any other people have opinions on this?
Typically 3, but there are a lot of other factors like build quality that need to be taken into consideration.
I don't think it would matter at all in an OPE engine's low RPM and low load environment. There is something to be said for both designs. I'm not aware of any modern engines that use a one piece control ring but they used to be pretty common in the mid 50s. With modern design and materials, a one piece could certainly be just fine.
