One is hotter than the rest

I wonder if its the e-brake cable not completely releasing. How can I tell? The rear wheels did spin when I had the wheels off the ground but I am not sure how well they are suppose to spin.


To check if the parking brake cable is releasing properly, you have to take the wheels off and spin the hub by hand. With the wheel on, you have very little feel for the amount of drag from brakes. For example on my Mazda I can spin the hub just by grabbing the wheel studs, the hub should not spin freely though, there should be some drag from the brakes. This way you can easily tell which wheel drags more. If one side takes quite an effort to spin, that's the problematic side. Inspect everything there.

More times than not I've seen seized calipers misdiagnosed, but the real problem is the flexible brake hose.

All MK5 and MK6 VWs have brake bias to the rear to keep the nose from diving as much under hard application of brakes. Good for cornering, but mainly for the pedestrian regulations that Europe has.

I noticed mine looks a little bit compressed and the spaces between the coils aren't uniform. I wonder if springs is damaged? Just a guess


IIRC, the spring was very tight with no ir very little space between the coils but, this is something that I would have to see again.

The brake hose going to the caliper might be damaged internaly causing possible restriction, imbalanced braking or causing the caliper to stick. I've seen this too but I don't know if is said this right
