One in four homebuyers want to move, here are the top ten cities they want to move to.

Many people wish to live in nice places-hence the traffic. I have been in Cape Coral (many times)-yea there is traffic but there are many places far worse.

Most of the traffic in Northern Virginia is the result of things like building 300-home subdivisions with a single entrance/exit off a 2-lane road. The anti-growth folks have found that they can stop new roads, but they can't stop new development. The end result is what we have here.

How long before the tax hell states like NY, NJ, Cali and Mass start trying to do some form of exit or clawback tax for the people leaving their states? You know they are going to try.

Miami has been getting trashy for the past 20 years with the amount of crime, traffic, poverty and stupidity.

Lots of aspiring artists or musicians causing trouble in Miami Beach so TV news gives them free publicity and coverage. SMH.

Yep-the "I am here-I wanted nobody else now" scenario.

People move where they either have families or have jobs. You don't just move somewhere for no reason. Vegas do have a very nice and growing suburb, and some industries are growing there other than just gambling and shows. It is a real city with some real industries. Sacramento, I know quite a few people cashing out of Bay Area and move there. It is close enough to their families yet cheap enough to just cash out, culturally similar to where they were from, etc. I can see people moving from LA / Inland Empire to Vegas to retire, if they are ok with the electric bill in the summer for AC.

Based on an analysis of 100 metro areas, the following 10 cities had the highest net inflow of property searches on Redfin's website. Net inflow is the number of people looking to move into a city minus the number of people looking to leave.

  1. Las Vegas: 5,700
  2. Phoenix: 5,300
  3. Tampa, Florida: 5,000
  4. Orlando, Florida: 4,900
  5. Sacramento, California: 4,800
  6. North Port-Sarasota, Florida: 4,700
  7. Cape Coral, Florida: 4,100
  8. Dallas: 4,100
  9. Miami: 3,700
  10. Houston: 3,600
Not sure about 6 and 7 but the rest are absolute prostitute, crime, drug, homeless hooker and junkie havens. And full of low life scum as well. Plus way way nasty hot weather.

Yeah, it's a shame.
MANY decades ago as a kid I spent a fair amount of time in Miami. A small part of my moms family moved there along with my grandparents. I used to LOVE going there, some family member became significant public figures there and others in the hotel industry and another area. Spent much time not only at their homes with my parents but also in the Eden Rock and Fountainebleau and as kid it was like wow, one time my parents had the presidential suite "on the house" Its not something they would have spent money on. Ill never forget.... I felt so cool.

Well those days are gone, even though of course the hotels there are as high end as ever, I haven't been back I would like to go back because decades later still some cousins remain in the nicer parts. But, when I google map the homes I used to stay in, that I thought was so cool, nice care free and crime free now have security bars on the windows and doors. Run down, Im not shocked I remember a long time back I heard things were going down in the area.

Yep. For now. But that'll change.
Jobs would be next if not more important than affordable real estates. With faster rural internet people can go further out into the deep suburb / rural area to work remote job and better balance out the high and low cost area. I know some $5.5M place in Los Altos (used to be 4.5M) that couldn't do cable internet, but now can get Starlink and their residents can work from home. I'm sure a lot more people would consider moving from San Francisco to rural Idaho if they can work from home for 1/2 the pay if they can get a house 1/5 of the price.

I agree with moving to Vegas from LA / Inland Empire.

Flights are very cheap if a person has to go back to visit family or friends.

Maybe they want to work inside an air-conditioned casino?
With the free second hand smoke, being surrounded by gamblers with behavioral issues nonstop. Watching people self destruct every day.

Sounds like quite the place to work.

I lived in Dallas for 3 years. You couldn't pay me to move back. I liked the Fort Worth side more, but still too many people.

Good place if one is used to serving/bartending. The lady who cleans our second office building used to work at the casino, and made a couple grand a night if she was bartending the high limits tables or whatever they're called. On the flip side, she said if your were bartending those small limit tables, you were screwed. (Not sure on the terminology, I've only played penny slots before.)

Couldn't pay me enough to spend a 8-12 hour shift having non stop smokers blowing cigarette smoke in my face. Going home with the stench of smoke. Watching people self destruct.

I rather be a garbage man making a hundred dollars a day. At least I would be doing something that was helping society and I could be proud of.
