This car ended up being my first car. My dad ordered this in 1973.

Those were the days . No doodads that add to the cost of a vehicle . Could find and buy a used vehicle for under $200 and put another $200 or less to make it road worthy . 😞

5.2L 318 for the win!
68 Fury 1st car I was surprised how much giddy up that motor had. Went through plenty of mechanical fuel pumps & points/condensor it seemed all the time though.

Cool time warp. I will say it's interesting to see items charged for that have been standard for a very long time. 3 speed wiper motors being extra seems crazy. The one that really seems nuts is an extra charge for power steering $113.70 and seems to be higher charge than alot of options.

That is awesome. I love to see those old window stickers.

All of those add-ons don't equal one current day shady dealer "processing fee".

4-1/8 stroke!
Yup, definitely lots of torque for the 225's modest displacement, which probably allowed for its acceptable performance in a full-size car.

That car would have been even better with the "Super Six" mod - a 2-bbl carburetor, and manifold for same. That came out as a factory option a few years later.

Thank you for that window sticker.

Yeah if you do the math a wage went a long ways back then.

If it was up to me, I'd reset and hold everything at 1958, for everything. Back then no computers running our lives either.
Even the food tasted better then.
Tube TV's booted faster than some of the stuff now. :ROFLMAO:

That window sticker would almost match a '73 Satellite Sebring that my dad bought. His Satellite was a 2 door, however. A pretty nice looking car, I thought. That was the only 2 door that he ever owned other than a Model A Ford and '36 Chevy in the 1940's.

I enjoyed a '73 Fury 2 door for about 5 years. The 360 LA was a good match for that one, except for the fuel mileage. In 1973, the slant six was a fleet order option only on the Fury.

I believe that a strippo Duster could be purchased for $3000 in 1973. Then again, a new VW Beetle was still $2000.

Rember the size of the interior and trunk of those 70's Fury's. 4 guys could hide in a trunk going into a drive-in movie.

I once hauled a boxed full sized clothes dryer home from a store. The sales guy couldn't believe it.

Love it; rear window defogger, vinyl seats. Special recognition for $63 AM radio more than the $60 destination fee!

(I'll try to dig up the $9,900 sticker for my STRIPPED 1995.5 Tacoma and post it here)
The window defogger drew air from one of the 6 x 9 speakers slots in the back panel and blew air on the back glass. If I remember right, it was a 2 speed fan.

I ran that price through an inflation calculator. That comes to $27,028 today.

Sure wish we could still order cars the way we want and not the packages forced on us now.
