Old VR1 virgin oil and settling in container

I do agree with what you're saying about a ploy to sell more product, 5-years certainly seems like a short shelf life.
If you noticed the Pennzoil pics I posted, they're actually 'older' than the Valvoline I have. I've been using the straight 30/w Pennzoil for my lawnmowers for several years and never saw any junk in the bottom of those containers.
Seeing what I did with the Valvoline has me concerned enough to get it out of my motorcycle.
