Old school burger drive-in Cortez, Co.

We've been in Cortez for a couple of days and noticed this place always busy when we went by so decided to give it a try. 2 cheeseburgers and fries exactly how you remember they should taste! You pull in and the young lady comes to your car for your order and brings it out. That's her coming around the front of the white truck. They were busy at 5pm and it took less than 10 minutes. Love finding these gems in our travels.

We found another called Milt's at Moab last week Have anything like this where you are?

Nice! I love those types of places. I'll eat at these types of joints over any corporate chain. They usually are far better and are treasures.

Looks a little corporate. These people don't have a website much less other locations.. The server had a paper tablet and sharpie and wrote shorthand and got it right.

We have DOUMAR'S in Norfolk, Virginia. The founder claims to have invented the ice cream cone at the 1904 World's Fair in St. Louis. Up until ~15 years ago, the waitresses (carhops) would roller skate to your parked car to take your order and deliver your food. I assume that liability issues put an end to that nostalgic practice. They still hold Cruise-Ins on Wednesday evenings during the summer months.

Anytime we're in Sault Ste. Marie, MI, we always hit up the West Pier Drive-In! They have really good burgers and fried walleye

If you're traveling I-40 west of Flagstaff Delgadillos Snow Cap in Seligman on Rte 66 is worth a stop if you have a little time. Iconic.

I ate there once! Something to do when you get bored with Whidbey Island and Anacortes. That and some German restaurant to the South.
