I ended up changing the oil in my Simplicity's 9HP SnowTek engine for a 24" snowblower yesterday.

I had a few reminiscent bottles of GC(opened two years ago) and Ford Motorcraft semi-synthetic from 2005 also opened two years ago. It verified they both were very clear and looked and smelled new.

Is this bad practice for something that likely only runs about 15hrs max per year in my locale?

Can't be any worse than those who run their OPE on the factory fill for 10 years

I use oil that is probably over 10 years old when I can find it on clearance ect. I have read a few time of people noticing additive fallout in old oil but have not experienced it at all for myself. The tiny bit of moisture that get in it from being opened will evaporate very quickly. As others said, shake them up good and use them. I cant think of a reason not to use them.
