I was cleaning out my over-stuffed toolbox this weekend to make space for some new stuff, and I came across some old sockets. These belonged to my Dad who, God rest his soul, was the cheapest human being that ever lived, AND could fix anything (at least to young me). The sockets are 1/4" and are all stamped "SRI LANKA", and they look CHEAP and would probably snap if any real torque was applied. Dad would have acquired these at some point before 1992, because that's when he died. Where might these sockets have been sold? Flea market maybe? Dollar store? Wal-Mart? Anyway, made me think of my Dad today. 😊

I believe those sets were sold at Pep Boys and maybe JC Whitney and such for like $5 a set. I had one tossed in the trunk as an emergency kit.

Are those the sets where everything under 14mm was 1/4" drive so they included a 3/8-1/4 adapter? I think I cut myself on the flaking chrome from one of those once. The ratchet pawl action was atrocious.

It still is! :ROFLMAO:...but it still works.
