Ok so you can all shoot me now... I have done a ton of research and talked to some higher ups and and I can't find any evidence that MMO used as a UCL will damage emission systems.

There are a whole bunch of people here on BITOG that have used it for years without any ill effects and original emission system components, some vehicles of which even pass emission tests. This real world testing and testimonial led me to dig very deep.

Not one FTC claim against MMO in 80 years is what really sealed the deal for me. Surely for the last 30+ years that we have been using Catalytic converters that are sensitive to certain additives, we would have heard a claim from motorists connecting MMO to cat-failure yet there is none to be found and I have scoured the web.

From this point on I will be using MMO in my fuel as a UCL and won't look back.

Sorry for any kerfuffle I may have caused on BITOG.

Excuse me while I hide in my bullet-proof box now...

StevieC had donated money to a VOA analysis on another site(Terry's I believe) where the results had shown certain additives that may be harmful(in excess quantities, but MMO has them in small quantities to accomplish what it had set out to do).

I don't think anyone meant ill-will towards you StevieC its just the nature of Terry's site and how information was brought forth. I think your a swell fellow!

You didn't hide quick enough. Besides, there's no such thing. And even if there were, I'd have just used the cannon instead of my .357 Sig!

Well....with 23 posts PER DAY EVERY SINGLE DAY for the past 368 days....you're bound to really jack one up.

Still hiding...

I jumped the gun I guess, and for that I'm sorry... MMO is the $!@# in my books...

Went to Shell tonight, dumped in my regular amount and filled up, drove home with a smooth, quiet responsive engine...

Hey, you're fessin' up you were mistaken. Nice to see intellectual honesty on the interwebs!

Always thought you were a good guy, this is just more proof of it!

How about re-opening up the 'Luvin' the MMO' thread with a version of this appended so other folks can learn the resolution?

Welcome back Stevie! Research is good, thinking things through, and changing your mind is OK too! We're all human, and entitled to our opinions. Glad you share them with us. We're all here to learn!

As I told you earlier Steve, do what is best for your car, if you change your mind that is fine, if you like a certain product one week and then the next week you change your mind, no harm, no foul.

Be sure and have a UOA performed on your current crankcase fill. If I'm not mistaken, you just changed the oil in your Santa Fe.

I'd like to see the phosphorous levels after regular use of the MMO and at least 10,000 kms on the oil.

Funny that you should mention that... I have the UOA from before I started using MMO, and the one that is currently being processed in the lab as I type this.

I will post both for you here so you can see the difference.

Weather was pretty much the same, driving patterns are always the same, no other variables in the equation except MMO use in the fuel.

Same mileage on both samples too down to 50KM.

If it was harmful, MMO would have probably put a warning on the bottle - the same way they have done for 2007+ diesel applications. Good choice!

IMO, without data of the inorganic adds, any further discussion is worthless. Anyone want to combine funds on here to have a VOA done???

Modern oils are a very careful balance of additives, generally more of anything has a negative effect someplace else.

The good news: Motors and modern oils are so long lived that you engine will last a long time even if you corrupt them with additives!!
