ok for an '09 chevy?

would this oil be ok to run in an '09 chevy 1500 with the 4.8 vortec? gonna run till OLM hits 5%. I understand that some Euro oils have a higher ash content, could this harm the cats?

Its rated SM. Its just fine.

Yes. It will work fine.

However, Napa does have their house brand synthetic for just $3.49/qt this month, and even that is way more than you need.

As far as cat poisoning, you'll also be fine, as even the SM ZDDP limits are fairly low, and SM is all your truck called for anyway. Also, this doesn't even matter unless you are burning oil. ZDDP does absolutely NO damage in a sound engine.

That is a lot of money for something a regular oil can do.

Well, ive been a bitog member for almost 3 yrs now, got bitten by the "bug" of course im not going to stick to one oil, ill try different ones lol.

I agree. But there is a "need" to spend more money than what is necessary for little to no benefit to "feel" better.

I think everyone is missing the bigger (more important) issue here than cost. That particular oil that the OP is interested in using is a Euro spec low-SAPS oil. In Europe, most manufacturers interchangeably use low-SAPS oils in both diesel and gasoline engines.

However, in North America, low-SAPS oils are normally limited to diesel engines only because our gasoline here has higher sulfur content, and thus the lower TBN of a low-SAPS oil translates into a much lower OCI.

It really doesn't matter what oil the OP decides to put in his truck, but it should be something more like a full-SAPS oil to ensure that the TBN will stay high enough by the end of a potentially long(ish) OCI as dictated by the OLM.
