Oils w/ Tougher Approval

It is about what is the best standard to follow. Can you show proven performance? But given you mentioned it doesn’t OCI periods determine the standards, at least for a naturally aspirated modern engine. Should you follow the OCI and standards in the operator’s manual.
Isn't that exactly what an approval shows?

I guess the big question for me is how does a better/higher approval (or better performing oil) translate into engine longevity if going above and beyond of the owner's manual recommended oil and OCI?

For example if you have a small displacement turbo European car revving high and/or doing 110mph on a regular basis and 10K+ oci over in Europe plus lots of stop and go in the mix ... then you need a better oil. But same European performing oil for most cars in US doing 65mph with shorter oci is overkill. I personally like a little bit of overkill when it comes to oil and I also like @OVERKILL lol ... But is it necessary?

Not offending, but I find this question boring as it has been asked several million times before and after five years of membership and 2460 posts you should finally realize that there's no answer to it. Those who have the funds to perform the necessary tests have no interest at all in making them public.

Thanks for your contribution!
Please continue with your work in your "engineering" cubicle. :)

Everyone please use your search function and Bob can shutdown bitog as all questions have been asked and/or been answered multiple times!

Please don't shutdown bitog but just in case:
Bob, Thanks for such a wonderful website and I will miss it.
It was nice to know you all.
