Guys, I'm putting my Corvette in storage tomorrow for a 5 month period. Should I be considering putting oil in the cylinders and rotating the engine for this relativly short storage period? I already changed the oil and did all of the other winter prep procedures.

where is it getting stored? Honestly I don't think you have to worry. I bought a used longblock from my friend. Sat in his garage (in Detroit) for almost a year. No TB on it, and missing a few other things. When I tore it down, the only thing that didn't have oil on it was the lifter valley..

I found that adding MMO to the gas and taking the car for at least a 30 minute ride before you store it will work well. I had my son add 1 qt to his BMW 323i gas tank and drive it 1/2 hr before he parked it for 7 months during his last Afghanistan Deployment. Drive the car to the gas station dump in some Stabil, add the MMO fill the tank and drive. That will coat all the internals of the combustion chamber and cyls.
Make sure you get the car good and hot so it will burn off any junk in that freshly changed oil.

Yeah I always had MMO with every fill, and when I store it I add Stabil. I drive it enough (1/2 hour or more) to get oil temps up to burn off condensation. I bring to storage building and put it away. I make sure the tires have extra pressure in them (so they don't flatspot) and remove battery, and put the cover on and kiss it goodbye.

Sounds like a plan! An OD of MMO before storage isn't going to hurt it, and will keep the cylinders from rusting. Cheap insurance in my book.

would it be alright to add MMO to a tank full of fuel that already has Stabil in the tank? I have always just put stabil in a full tank and let it idle for about 1/2 hour, then hook the battery to a battery tender.
There would be no problem with MMO and Stabil. I've heard MMO is good for keeping gas fresh, but I think Stabil is better so I use both. The only thing I would suggest is drive the car vs. idling it. For some reason just idling a car doesn't seem to warm the oil up enough once it starts getting cold outside. A nice 30 minute drive early on a Saturday or Sunday morning, will burn off any moisture so there is one less thing to worry about.
The battery tender is a good idea, block up the exhaust and air intake to keep unwanted creatures from moving in, and put a few dryer sheets inside the car to keep it smelling fresh. I'd figure you already have a good coat of wax on the car

I am actually talking about my motorcycle, but storage of the two is fairly similer. I never thought to cover the exhaust though.....good idea.

Makes no difference I would store any 4 cycle engine the same way, if I wasn't fogging it. Stabil's purpose is the keep the fuel fresh for up to 1 year IIRC. MMO does the coating.

Use storage fogging oil in the cylinders. I've used it for years in my outbaord engine and also in all of my lawn equipment. Smokes like h____ in the spring on start-up but keeps rust from forming and keeps the rings free. Just remove the plugs, spray a good dollop in, rotate the engine with the plugs out and put the plugs back in. It's what this oil was designed for.
?could you just add a cup of wd-40 to the gas instead of MMO? MMO can't be that mysterious, I heard it's just thin machine oil.
Pouring some motor oil into the cylinders sounds good too, I used to pour motor oil down the carb. to flood the engine. smoked like
