I keep asking who came up with this notion ..or "why do you do it" ..and I just think that everyone has been doing it so long ..they don't even know why. I mean, sure they know WHAT it does ..but I don't think they ever question why you would bother. Ford's and Mopar's can't do this ...and they don't grenade because of it ..maybe a few other reasons ..but not (at least I'd doubt it) because of this one element in an engine build ...and I really think that this is where it originated.
It was something that a Chevy builder could do ..that others could not. It might be just that simple
