Hello,
I just recently purchased a Honeywell Hw2000i generator. The Oil recommendation is 15w-40 API rating of SF or better. Honeywell told me I can use any 15w-40 as long as it is not specifically formulated for diesel engines. Kinda hard to find. I ended up finding Shell Rotella T that is formulated for both gasoline and diesel. Now my question.
Shell advertises Sythetic Rotella T 5w-40 that out performs its coventional 15w-40. Does that mean I can safely run this in my generator? It has API rating of SL. I understand the API ratings, I am curious if I change the weight if it could have adverse effects.
Thanks,
AndrewM
