Oil viscosity for Auto-RX rinse phase?

Hi folks -

I've just done the cleaning phase on my Infiniti Q45 and am about to start the rinse. I'll probably do two applications, since I believe I have a seal leak, or two.

Do I have anything to think about regarding the viscosity of the rinse phase oil? I'm probably going to use Rotella 15w40 for my three seasons oil once the Auto-RX process is finished, but I'm open to suggestions on the rinse phase.

I'm also in the cleaning phase on an Accord 2.2 liter engine, and if the recommendation is different for any reason on that engine, feel free to advise. TIA - Pat

Some people say to use as thin of an oil as you can safely use in your application. The idea is that a thinner oil is going to flow more easily into all the nooks and cranny's(sp)better. In theory this sounds great but in practice I doubt it matters. At operateing tempature even a 15W40 is going to have no problem getting into all the nooks and cranny's! I would use Delo 400 CI+4 or Delvac 1300 both in 15W40 if available over Rotella 15W40. Both of the previous products have beefier additive packages as compared to Rotella I belive.

If you should decide to use a passenger car oil Chevron Supreme/Havoline 10W30 and 10W40 come to mind as good conventional oils that will also do a good job!

Steve - This is a '91 vehicle. In those days, there was no one particular oil recommendation, but rather a choice of several or even many overlapping viscosity possibilities depending on the season and ambient temps. Thus my question.

I think the Rotella is an excellent choice for the rinse phase as well as the cleaning phase. I'm currently using it through AutoRX treatements in both my 96 Cherokee and my 92 300ZX. Once I'm done I'll switch back to Amsoil.
