oil usage in new vehicle?!?

2008 Chevrolet Equinox w/ 3.4L V-6; used @ 12oz of factory fill oil in the first 3,650 miles; had a VIOC do the oil change w/ Valvoline conventional 5w30 oil & champion labs made filter;

is oil usage normal for this engine or side effect of engine break-in?!?

Less than 1/2 quart for almost 4k miles is very normal for most engines. I would worry if it consumes more than 1 quart every 2-3k miles.

yea your engine can consume a bit as your rings seat and settle down

The other posts are correct Km The first time is ok, it's a good thing you are monitoring the oil,good job, so many new owners don't. Your car is officially broken in now so consider using a wonderful amsoil product, my personal favorite, whateaver you feel comfortable with. Have fun.

Not a problem. 12oz is fine.

It's normal for many engines to consume some oil during break-in.

My latest vehicle, the 08 Corolla has 8000 miles on it now (came with 4 miles on it) and hasn't used any oil yet. A Sentra I bought new in 2002 used about half a quart per 3k while it was breaking in. No rhyme or reason why some use and some don't.
