Oil temps too low?

I ended up not buying the Icelink. The guys at Best Buy only carried the dash mount version; they didn't even know the trunk mount version was possible or available.

Oh, and the oil temps got up to 200...still not so high.

I think that as long as you get over 180 you'll be just fine.

Following a simple sensor inaccuracy, my next thought is of an oil cooler that is improperly sized and not thermostatically controlled. Since I don't know about these vehicles this may be useless to you.

Yep, Avant = wagon in Audi-speak. The car is chipped, but the oil cooler is stock.

The oil cooler doesn't connect directly to the radiator, but it has a heat exchanger that interfaces with the cooling system. In a different location, the oil system also connects to the turbo to lube and cool it.

I know the thermostat connects to the ECU and provides data there, but whether this is part of a feedback loop (relating to boost, RPMs, or other) or not, I'm not sure.

May I ask a silly question? I know nothing of your car. It's the 1.8T wagon, right (isn't that what Avant means to Audi?)? Anyway, does it have an oil cooler? Is it a simple air cooler as opposed to the kind that goes into the coolant radiator? Is it stock or aftermarket? Is it thermostatically controlled?
