Hey guys,

My brother has just gotten a Pontiac G8 GT with about 8K miles on it. Now, this engine will be aggressively used. He drives it very hard... I want to suggest him some oils/filters and OCIs he should stick to. I need some help here.

Probably going to use Valvoline Synthetic or Pennzoil Platinum 5w30... What filters would you suggest? How about the OCI? I was thinking sticking to 5K just because of the aggressive style and getting a used oil analysis done every once and a while to check progress, but just want some suggestions for now.

How are these engines in general in terms of wear, leaks, burning oil, etc?? I believe they are the L76 engine.

Appreciate the help guys!

If he is going to drive this car hard, meaning some high rpm's then it would be a good idea to put on an Air/Oil Seperator.

I have read on the LS1 Forums that when these engines are pushed hard you can get some oil mist that gets past the PCV and this coats the inside of the intake manifold runners.

If he was going to drive it like an old lady then I would be saying no to the air/oil seperator.

If money is not an option then the Amsoil EaO Oil Filters are an excellent choice. How long does he plan on holding onto this vehicle.
