I have a 2021 Nissan NV3500 Passenger Van with 98k miles on the 5.6 VK56VD engine. It has been our daily driver, along with trips pulling our 32' camper. I've had it on a 5k OCI with the dealer since new, except for a couple necessary quick lube changes. I plan to start doing my own maintenance now as the 100k powertrain warranty is about to expire. It runs like new. It's a shame Nissan quit making it after 2021, as there are no others on the market that would fit my needs if I had to replace it.

I just purchased a 2025 Nissan Pathfinder Rock Creek for daily driving, and have several free oil changes at the dealer. I just hit 500 miles and have been researching oils to do a couple break in changes before taking it to the dealer at 5k miles. I bought a couple Nissan OEM filters on Amazon.

Both vehicles have DI engines and only list 0w-20 in the manuals. I've always used Mobil 1 in the past, and was looking at the ESP X2 as an option, although the Mobil site suggests a high mileage over 75k for the van. I am also intrigued by Valvoline's Restore and Protect. I've read a lot of posts on this forum and would like some input for my applications. I drive a lot of miles and keep vehicles a long time. I rarely short trip. I live in Oklahoma City, so it does get hot and cold, but nothing crazy as far as winter temps.

Thanks for any input.

IMO bumping up to the ESP 0W-30 would be good especially with the towing. If you have oil consumption the Valvoline Restore and Protect is a good option.

ESP 0W-20 is a great oil for your new vehicle if you want to stick with a 20 grade.

Perhaps get the oil tested? DI is notorious for fuel dilution, and I think 20 weight is just for MPG, not protection. Why not run an SP or SQ 5W-30 or 0W-30 for 5,000 miles and get it tested? If it performs well you can just stick with that.

Kirkland 5W-30 for both. Buy online at a great price delivered.

I would add to the above running Valvoline Restore and Protect 5W-30 on the NV3500 for a couple oil change cycles before going back to Kirkland 5W-30 or your oil of choice.

I currently own a 2025 RC Pathfinder and had a 2021 Pro4X Titan (miss that truck) and both live(d) on Kirkland 5W-30. I do plan to cycle in Valvoline Restore and Protect 5W-30 every third oil change as a maintenance cycle on the Pathfinder.

I run 7317 filters on both my old Titan and the current Pathfinder. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B076H5Y1B3?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_1
