Yes, if this is really the case (weak oil pumps), the FIRST thing I'd do if I ever own a Blue Oval 32V engine is change out the oil pump with something VERY strong and blueprinted (and of course change out anything else which had to be removed anyway in the process).

If RP is of the correct grade and specification for the engine, then it's not the oil's fault. If an engine fails because the oil is too thin, it's not because someone grabbed the wrong brand of approved 5w-20, it's because the improper oil was specified in the first place or there was a factory defect.

Well after reading these responses to the RP thing from y'all I'm no longer worried about using it. I figured it was false. Lol.

Now that's interesting. So when pushing hp well in excess of double the stock output the oil pump gears are more prone to failure.
Thanks

Triton

There is nothing wrong with RP other than price. When common syns can be had in the mid 20 dollar range why spend more.

Is it overkill, yup! But then again so is owning/building mustangs.

Mobil 1 Extended Performance 5w30 or 5w20 is only $25 at Wal-Mart. Add a Motorcade filter for $4 and you will be hard pressed to beat that combo at any price.
