I have a 2014 Ford F150 FX2 with remaned 5.0L crate engine. On startup the engine has a tick at both hot and cold condition. Ford says the tick is normal for 5.0L engines and the noise is a result of oil shearing off the journals. The noise is more prevalent at the oil pan, but can be heard in the fender wells and under the hood. My oil pressure is 17psig hot at idle and 75 psig above 1700 rpm hot. Using Valvoline 5w30 full synthetic oil now, was using 5w20 synthetic blend. Would a high volume high pressure Melling oil pump that delivers 30 psig at idle reduce or eliminate the "tick"? Found blogs that state that the stock oil pump does not deliver a good quantity of oil down the overhead cam shafts to the back rockers and lifters. Any help would be appreciated.
