Just need a quick recommendation on some local oil I need.

I need 5w20 synthetic, and looking at Walmart, we have

Pennzoil Ultra @ $27 5/qt jug

Quaker State Q Horsepower @ $21 5/qt jug(Is this the same as Ultimate Durability? confused...) Walmart website says Q-Horsepower but shows a jug of Ultimate Durability. I can't even find Q Horsepower on the QS website

Valvoline Synpower $25

and I know they have Mobil 1 and Castrol Edge, but the prices are not showing up on the website

The QS at $21 looks interesting, but I'm sure exactly what I am getting...

Assuming they are all with in a few dollars of each other, which would the one to go with be?
 
Quaker State Ultimate Durability is an excellent synthetic oil and the lowest priced at WM. You should also consider Pennzoil Platinum as it is less than 2 bucks more now that it's priced at under $23.
 
Mobil 1 was $25 the last time I checked, except for EP which was $27

Castrol Edge black was $25, gold $27

I would stick to M1, Edge, or PU as they are the only A5/B5 oils (in 5w30)

Agreed. Quaker State Ultimate Durability / Pennzoil Platinum / Pennzoil Ultra are all fantastic oils and price can't be beat.

Why? Unless he plans on extending the interval it's a waste. And considering PU is cheaper,and superior why spend more on a lesser product.

It is superior to all the others.
 
If you car is new enough, the Quaker State Ultimate Durability (If Q horsepower, the supply is old) would be about $1 after rebate. The PU $2 and PP in the $2-5 range. You would have to pick between PU and PP because they are the same program.

I am not familiar with your vehicle, so can't really say what brand or viscosity fits the best.

The reality is, PU, Quaker State Ultimate Durability, VSP, M1, and CE are all very good synthetics and will perform well.

Quaker State Ultimate Durability is somewhat of a "sleeper" as many have said before. It's a quality SOPUS product with an economical price and has turned out many good used oil analysis.
 
I would go with the QS excellent oil for the price. Makes our engine run smoother and quieter. I wouldn't pass on that oil. pU is also a great oil but both PU and QS are SOPUS so your decision. M1 is high priced when other oils do the same.
 
What type of car do you have? I have had fantastic results with Pennzoil Platinum 5w20 from Walmart in my Honda. I think the current price is $21.27 for a 5 quart jug. I have a link to my used oil analysis for the PP in my SIG below.
 
Pennzoil Platinum, has the highest VI for a "walmart" 5w-20. Quaker State Ultimate Durability is just 1 point less.

Why get a 5w-20, and not a 0w-20? Quaker State Ultimate Durability 0w-20 is $21/jug and has a VI of 178!

I agree.

When I buy oil in the 20 grade, for synthetic I always pick 0W20 if it is available, for dino then 5W20 is the only option.

It's for my 11 Ram Hemi. I've been using AMSOIL Signature Series 0w20, however I'm pretty broke at the moment so I need to find an affordable oil in the meantime. I change the oil of off the OLM on the truck. It has been averaging about 9k between oil changes before the reminder message shows up.

I *think* I am going to go with the PU. The truck has always been fed the AMSOIL Signature Series, and I usually don't mind spending the extra money for the best product I can find. This time however, I am looking for the best product within a certain price rage.

The Quaker State Ultimate Durability just looks interesting because it is so inexpensive. That being said though, I would rather spend a few extra dollars to get something that is slightly better.

For whatever reason, I've just never been a huge fan of Mobil 1. No real reason, it just doesn't appeal to me.

I'd prefer the 0w20. That is what I am running now. But I just didn't see as many choices when I was looking.

Happen to know if the PU is available at Walmart in the 0w20 flavor?

This may sound totally wrong, but knowing that the PU is Pennzoil's top tier oil, I'd rather use it than the second rate PP. Just piece of mind
