oil recommendation for 2009 ford e-series

For work, I have a 2009 Ford E-series cargo van. It recommends 5w20 oil, with a 5000 mile severe service, 7500 miles otherwise oil change. The last I did, I put 5000 miles in about 3.5 months on Quaker State conventional oil. My driving is very inconsistent, I can do a mix of short drives to long drives. I was wondering what oil I should use and that would allow me to go safety the longest OCI?

Longest OCI? I'd say something like Amsoil. If you're looking for something that's a bit easier to get, then look into something like Mobil 1 Extended Performance.

Pair either one with a Fram Ultra filter and go 6 months on it, then pull a sample during the oil change and do a used oil analysis to see if you can go longer.

Easy. Pick an oil that meets Ford specification WSS-M2C945-A(I think) and run it for 5,000 miles with a Motorcraft filter.

All highway miles would be fine at 7,500 miles but Ford says carrying heavy loads and stop and go service is severe so stick with 5k. My E450 is loaded within 1,000 pounds of GVWR so Ford says severe, I go 5k.

So you're looking at 3x a year. Motorcraft 5W20 and FL-820S. That's ~$65/year in oil changes.

I just bought a 24' motorhome on the Ford 350 chassis with the V-10. I'm assuming that will be severe service hauling all that weight around. Why do they put such a small filter on that engine. Looking at the Motorcraft filter, half of it is spring and valving. Where is it located on the V-10??

Name brand 5w20 and an fl820s filter changed every 5,000 miles is all that combo will ever need.

As far as the filter being "small", again, check out the lifespan on these motors and then decide if the filter is too "small".

Mobil 1 0w20 with a MC filter and run it 10K OCI.

Thanks, got good answers, but many were just stating the obvious and treating it like most oil change places treat customers, most use severe service schedule.

Ok, this really what Ford says for my vehicle:
• Towing a trailer or carrying heavy loads(I do around 500-1000 Ib. above curb weight)
• Extensive idling and/or driving at low-speeds for long distances(wouldn't describe my driving)
• Driving in dusty conditions(wouldn't describe my conditions)
• Off-road operation(not more than a few times on a customers unimproved driveway)
• Use of E85 fuel 50% of the time or greater (flex fuel vehicles only)(hardly revelent anymore since API SN factors in use of E85, but filled it only one time with E85 just for the fun of it)

Otherwise, doing any used oil analysis is out, since my boss probably don't want to pay for it. But running a full synthetic every 6 months, may what I might opt for.
