I have a 1998 Infiniti I30 (Same engine and transmission as maxima of that time (3.0 V6)) With an auto trans. Its got 77.5k miles and sees a mix of highway and local driving but mostly local (not city but still has light traffic and most limits are around 40 mph)
currently it uses Mobil 1 5w30 with either Pure1 or Mobil 1 filters.

Anyway my question to you gurus is if this was your car what would you put in it? What weight? what Brand? what filter? What OCI?
just sort of looking for opinions from people who know about this stuff.

Thanks

Also if you want a search of "VQ" in the used oil analysis forum should return a fair amount of results for this engine if that helps?

Mobil 1 5w30 and Pure One filters, 6,000 miles or 6 months, GC is excellent oil but too expensive ($5.10 vs $3.88) and hard to find.

Maybe this will help; I have a '99 Maxima with 89,000 miles on it. Has lived on Mobil 1 5w30, OEM filters, and 4500-5000 mile oil and filter changes from day 1. Burns no oil, engine is clean and runs in weather from 28 to 107degrees. One of the most reliable cars I've owned.

Stick with what you are doing and change oil twice a year, once in April and once in October and you will be all set. Mobil 1 and Honda/Toyota/Nissans are a great match.

With a 3,000 mile OCI this would be just fine.

Either:

A) Chevron Supreme or Exxon SuperFlo 10W30 w/PureOne filter

OR

B) RedLine 5- or 10W30 w/PureOne filter.

Depends upon how rich I felt and how much I liked the car that OCI.
