How long are you going to give that brew before you run Valvoline Restore and Protect?

Great! Thanks for the update.

May we see some before/after picture, if possible?
Also, at what mileage are you planing to replace the oil filter?

Truth be told, I did buy a couple of jugs at a local sale here. Maybe after 2 OCs?

What image are you looking for? I am trying to solve an oil burning issue here. . . Engine looks pretty clean as it is at the top. I was going to just keep the same filter for the full OC. No longer than 5k.

Looks like most people suggest trying Valvoline Restore and Protect even though I'm pretty certain my issue is not the rings.

What about oil with best lubrication and ability to withstand the vq chewing it up?
It's either rings, valve seals or a physical leak......

Those would be the usual suspects for sure. I have no major leak. No spots under the car. There is a small leak from the rear main seal as far as I can tell (more of a weep).

Funny thing is that I had a buddy drive behind me for like 5 miles and I asked him to pay attention if there is smoke accelerating from lights and during driving. He didn't see any. If it was valve seals there should be a puff of smoke on take off after idle. I am thinking it is rings, or worse case I have worn/scored cylinder walls.

As far as I know, valve seals show only on initial start up - blue smoke. There is no smoke after the engine warms up at idle or acceleration. Leaky rear main seal should leave spots when car is parked and even if they are small they add up during the OCI. Also, when the RMS leaks during driving is hard to track the oil that has leaked. But you can see your undercarriage where the subframe is for oily spots.
I have small spots from leaky RMS and they are no more than 1/2 or 1/3 of once. But my subframe is all covered in oil from oil leaking when the car is in motion.

If your RMS leaks only 1/3 oz per day when car is parked - that is 9 oz (266 ml) for 30 days or over 1/4 quart. And that's not including the oil leaked during driving. For 4 months you have over a quart of oil leaked through the RMS when the car is parked only.
