oiL GOOD N NAMES BUT NO DIFFERENCE

I have tried quaker state , castrol synthetic, valvoline, and the latest

Exon superflo 10x30 and I settled for the Exon, its good stays somewhat clean until the mileage gets up there to change it , and my car runs purrs as smooth as ever, was I wasting my money on synthetics and higher priced oils ?let me have your opinions, Thanks Rhonda

Rhonda, you can't evaluate oil by how your car sounds and feels. My thoughts are that you can gain a lot by just choosing the right weight. In your case a good 5w30 will be better than a good 10w30, and the viscosity will be better at startup.

If you change your oil at 3,000 mile intervals there is likely little to be gained by going to a full synthetic, providing you use a SM Starburst oil. If you are going to go to 5,000 miles then I think there is some value in a synthetic. I don't believe in going beyond 5,000, even with a synthetic.

I used to use Exxon Superflo 5w20 on my last car and the car loved it. I used to have engine stutter but after the superflo my car was nice and smooth. It's one good oil.

a 1999 accent 4 cyl standard shift 80k on it and it runs nice

5w30 name brand conventional. Change every 3000 mi if its city driving. Every 5000 mi if its highway.

Name Brand Synthetic every 5000 mi City or 7500 mi Highway.
