I have setup a Ford 8.8 IRS center section with new FRPP 327 gears, New Traclock and bearings. I will run Amsoil Severe gear 75w-140 after the break-in. I was thinking of using Rotella gear oil conventional 85-140 from walmart with Ford friction modifier for the break-in. Run for 100 miles change it with the same, then 400 miles. Then run the Amsoil.

Or break it in on Mobil 1 syn 75w-90?

Any suggestions?

Yup I also purchased 2 bottles of the Ford Friction Modifier. One to use for break-in and one after break-in if the clutches start to chatter.
I think I will use the Mobil 1 lighter weight gear oil for break-in since I will be driving easy and its 10 bucks cheaper than the 75-140 Mobil 1.

Let it break in.
100 and 400 ? Too soon.
Street car? 1000 and 4,000 maybe.
A good gear set up is assumed [shim, adj., preload, etc.].

Did you drill to add a drain plug or are you sucking it all out? What is this going in? just curious.

If this is going in a track car you might want to consider adding a cooler such as Maximum Motorsports kit.
