Oil for alum block 5.3 Silverado

Recently got a 2005 5.3 Silverado with 60k
any preferred oil choices for the 5.3 Chevy
I am more into conventional or synthetic blend with more frequent changes than syn and longer oci

We run a fleet of 5.3's and 6.0/6.2's.

They are extremely easy on oil, simply follow the OLM. Any name brand high quality oil and filter in a 30 grade is near perfect.

Conventional: 5w30 Pennzoil Conventional, change it when the Oil Life Monitor hits 35% or every 7-8 months.

Synthetic: 5w30 Pennzoil Ultra, change it when the Oil Life Monitor hits 5% or 12 months.

Ditto with the above on most oils. The only noticable difference between any of the sale-of-the-day oils that I used was my high milage Chevy did not care for the thinner/lower HTHS Peak Syn. The engine seemed a shade louder. But G-Oil (same thin Kv100 but high HTHS) seemed to quiet the Chevy tick. Again, I'm in 180k territory, so I'm sure there is a difference from your 60k starting point.

I'm maintaining 2 - 5.3's. One with 103k (2000), and one with 73k (2004).

You can use just about anything in these engines.

I'd suggest anything that you know will be readily available locally, that fits your budget.

I'm using Rotella T5 synthetic blend 10w30 in the 103k engine, and Pennzoil Platinum 5w30 in the 73k engine, and changing every 6-9 months in both.

Main reason for running PP in the 2004, is because it has a short commute, and many times the engine is shut off before it reaches full operating temperature, especially in winter.

Both vehicles are used to tow as well.

My second choice would be Chevron Supreme.
