Oil for Aircooled Engines

carock,
I've been advocating M1 V-Twin for a few years now.

(Not with any personal experience, but looking at designs...and seeing results from coleagues running 15W-50 M1 for a long time in buses)

As far as using a top-quality synthetic "motorcycle" oil in an air-cooled engine, I couldn't agree more.

Amsoil's newer MCV 20W-50 and MCF 10W-40 bike oils would certainly qualify as compared to Mobil 1 V-Twin 20W-50, if not exceed that oil's capability entirely.

While Amsoil's White Paper to some might seem like grandstanding, it does show what the better oils on the market do when subjected to standard tests. Left in that context, it's potentially very good information for any air-cooled requirement for a car or bike.

As always, UOA will tell the tale.
