My wife has a 2010 Hyosung Comet...it's a "naked" bike, not the GT250R sportbike. While only a 250 (V-twin), it's highway capable (she reports it's fine at 70MPH)...but wow, does it spin! 70 is ~8600RPM, redline is 11,500.

So...what oil? 20W-50 V-twin oil?

If it matters, the engine has roller cam bearings. It is EFI.

Hyosung suggests 10W-40:

Hyosung Comet Manual

A high ZDDP motorcycle oil like Mobil 1 Racing 4T 10W-40 or Amsoil 10W-40 Advanced Synthetic would probably work nicely.

That's what I would use in it.

Thank you...the bike came with no manual.

Rotella T5 is well regarded for use in motorcycles. The 15w40 does well even in cold temps and its a heckuvalot cheaper than 4T motorcycle oil.

Looking at the manual theres a wide range of oil weights that can
be used; Rotella would be a good one and with that screamer of an
engine, I'd suggest changing it more often than the book calls for; which is 4000km. Maybe frequent changes with filter every other time.

Recently upgraded to MA2. Same oil, just retested and found to be MA2; most of what you
find on the shelves do not yet have this label but is good to go.........

Good advice above. Based off Hyosung's Owners Manual, I personally would recommend following their oil viscosity/temperature chart depending on the cold start-up temperatures your wife expects to be riding in.
While 10W40 should provide adequate protection, I would use the thicker viscosity oils in your application such as an HDEO in a 15W40 (like Rotella, which indeed is rated JASO MA2), or a 20W50. Most motorcycle companies that manufacture air cooled engines generally recommend thicker viscosity oils like 15W50/20W50 since engine temperatures are significantly higher than their liquid cooled counterparts; which places additional strain on the oil as a medium to further reduce engine temperatures (more so than in liquid cooled engines), and to achieve this while simultaneously offering proper lubrication throughout the engine/gearbox. Many riders have had great success with 15W40 in their air cooled Harley's and similar twins and has been shown to have great shear stability both mechanically/chemically, while the 20W50 will offer greater oil film strength thus decreasing the chance of the oil film rupturing leading to greater wear via metal to metal contact. Furthermore, as shown in the manual a 15/20 grade oil will have proper flow/pumpability down to 9-14 degrees, which should be more than adequate for your wife's riding conditions.

Yah,I look for " Harley oil " for the metal to metal valve bits on the BMW cars. 20 w 50 with ZDDP for extra goodness. Castrol dino if you're brand conscious
