Oil for a 2008 Tacoma

What are the options out there for 0w30 aside from Mobil 1?

I think the dealers are still putting 5w30 in everything Toyota, at least the ones I go to are.

I don't think it's unreasonable to do extended drains, but I am going to stick to 6months. I did have to take the truck in once for a small issue, I don't want to have any warranty issues.

I would Mobil 1 0W20 and still do the 6 month OCI. You are only talking two oil changes a year so the cost is nothing. Between the fuel saveing and the no brainer long term performance the Mobil 1 0W20 seems like the way to go. In fact I have been doing 6 month OCI on my 2003 Camry since new and have never had an issue and my engine is super clean. My used oil analysis always look great as well. I am assumeing you are going to keep this truck until the wheels fall off or it starts to nickle and ime you to death. Oh I have one truck that I sold to a good friend from college. It was my Dads when it iwas new in 1986 then in 1993 I bought it off my Dad and then sold it to my friend in 2006. It is still going strong. It is a 1986 4Runner. Just the other day he loaded it up and took all his buddies tot he sand dunes. He does this all summer long every year. He has photo's of the truck catching 9 feet of air. It is still going strong. Although he thinks the transfer case is starting to get lose and it might need to have new bearings and shimms. Not bad though for a 26 year old 4X4 that has been wheeled hard off road all it's life! Mobil 1 15W50 in the warm months and Mobil 1 10W30 dureing the cold months the first 24 years of it's life. Now he use's Mobil 1 10W30 exclusively since he use's that in all of his many vechiles.

Run the M1 or PP in 0 or 5-20. Better for infrequent starts because of superior flow.

Your taco 2.7L takes exactly 5 ¼ qts of oil including filter change – check dipstick level it should be right on a top mark . Manual states 6.1qts but it’s only true when your engine bone dry – never filled with oil before.

I can also verify 5.25 quarts for a drain/refill on the Tacoma 2.7L. First few OCI's with 6 quarts put me about 1/4" over the fill line on the dipstick. 5.25 hits it dead on everytime with a new filter.

My Dads 2.7 wich is a different 2.7 then the current one takes 6.5 all the time to bring it up to the full mark onthe dipstick. Cannot speak for the the newer 2.7.
