I have a 65 240 and was just wondering myself, would the hdeo be a better choice for these engines than a modern day gas oil? Im looking at running either a 10w30 or 15w40 hdeo if thats a better option than a modern gasser oil.
Sorry to ressurect the thread, just didnt want to make another.

Two engines you don't waste time worrying about.

240/300 Fords

170/198/225 Mopars

Whatever 10W-30 HM happens to be on sale or Super Tech 10W-30 HM ($12.96 per 5 qt lately).

If it's worth anything, my Jeep 4.0 has a cold start lifter tick and oil seepage.

Mobil1 HM was the only oil that softened the cold start tick the most (though still there), and no oil seepage.

10w30 has a great add pack and iirc pretty thick at 3.5HTHS. My inline 6 sure is smooth running it.

Just my .02¢

300 straight 6 is a typical farm engine... MANY farms have them

Run the same oil that the farmers use in their tractors and it will go 200,000 miles
