This post by RealWing is one of the best posts I have ever seen at this web site, and I have seen a lot of good posts here. The photographs are outstanding-I do a little photography myself, using both film and digital.
Now I am not an expert on oil filter design, but to me personally the Amsoil, NAPA Gold (Wix), and K&N appear to be of very good construction. I am going to use a K&N with my Schaeffer's Oil and Auto-RX maintenance dose.
That Toyota oil filter looks strange to me. Seems to me that it could plug up more easily. I think pesonally that if I had a Toyota that used one of those oil filters, I would use a K&N or Amsoil instead.
It would be interesting to see some other oil filters cut open-the AC Delco, Motorcraft, Mobil 1, Baldwin, and Hastings all come to mind.
What really stands out in this post is the high quality color photography-great job!
