I've bought many different filters over the years and have noticed a big difference in the quality of appearence, for instance, right now I have 3 different oil filters sitting on my garage shelf: a Wix, Supertech, and a hastings. All 3 filters were purchased within the last two months. In my opinion the hastings filter looks by far to best built of the three, the build quality and materials just look better. The Wix filter looks good, while the supertech (by appearence) seems cheaply made to me. Opinions?

It seems you are right at least according to users of this site. Where do you get a hastings filter? I don't believe I have ever seen one. They seem to have an excellent reputation.

There is a local farm/western supply store that sells only hastings filters, they even had a little display showing a cutout of a hastings filter next to a fram filter, the cardboard endcap on the fram filter honestly looked pretty bad. The price was a little under 5.00 for most oil filters.

The Hastings I found mid pack on filter area came from a regional chain of pro auto parts stores. ST was at the bottom of a closely spaced group, but still more than twice the filter area of Fram.
