Oil + filter hoarders

I'm in the no oil stash anymore, except that it really is aisle 13 at the nearest WalsMarts. I haven't seen a bottle of clearance oil in ages. I did hit the local home improvement stores and TSC when folks were posting abou the OMG LOOK AT WHAT I GOT threads a couple of months ago. No dice. Would I buy a hundred qts at a buck a qt? Yeah, as long as it was something I could actually use.

"Whatcha gonna do brother when the oil stash mania runs wild on YOU"

^^DO you own other things to a similar degree? just askin'.

The whole "Return Oil to FCP" thing is that it is veiled behind a "lifetime guarantee" policy.
That's fine.
I believe FCP extended said policy to wear items (oil, wiper blades etc.) as a bold "get the customer in" move.

My question has always been about leakage during shipment.

Do you trust Joe Average to prep a nasty product for shipment smartly?

More like, cheaper to make and ship.
Yes more than likely, however if I already have a car that requires a spin on filter, not a canister, then people will continue to make spin on's until there is no demand. So for there to no longer be spin on's it means someone forced them to stop - like the environmentalists?

Now if you told me all new cars going forward had canister types I would believe that.

24 quarts - Amsoil SS 5W-30
20 quarts- High Performance Lubricants 5W-30
10 quarts- M1 0W-40
4 Hyundai OEM filters
5 Honda OEM filters

Now, if I could find somebody here in Iowa that would sell me some of their impressive clearance-raid oil stash... I might be waiting a while. 😑

It's not my concern what others do. I can say that I spend the time to pack my returns carefully to avoid any drama. Of note I received a shipment with new oil that was poorly packed with a leak...so this concern should extend to shipping new oil as well.

Oil hoarding is dumb. I used to be a hoarder, not anymore. Why? You're never going use that 100 quarts you got on sale hitting like 10 different auto zones. Half the hoarders have like 2 cars, maybe 3. By the you use it up, in like 10 years lol, you'll want the newest oil technology anyway. So you'll give it away lol

You know who you are. Let's see those proud stashes of fresh full jugs of virgin oil, those crates and boxes overflowing with oil filters. Proudly display your oil & filter acquisition disorder (OFAD) symptoms! 😂
Not again!

I always wondered, say the world ended like the Twilight Zone with Burgess Meredith and the library. Say you were left an entire Costco warehouse, how long would all the things inside last one person or one family? Oh, and you don't break your glasses like the guy in the Twilight Zone episode.

Just looked it up--it was called, "Time Enough At Last." Season 1 episode 8. From 1959...wow.

I'm getting there! Pictures today probably – nothing much to get excited about. I have approximately three oil changes worth of goods for three vehicles plus all my OPE + ATV. I started the thread more to see the variety of fluids/brands owned per person than to see quantity hoarded. The only reason I would buy more right now is if there was some ridiculously good clearance sale or pricing error on oil or filters. I don't sell or buy vehicles very often.

looking forward to it. I just ordered about 3 years worth of filters myself and need to get a bit more organized.

I'm guessing the folks that cry foul on deals like this are just the ones that missed out on them.
Exactly! Anyone else that would have seen that would have done the same thing as you and they would be lying if they said they wouldn’t.

I know for a fact I would have gotten as many as I could. I have 3 cars I do oil changes on and all call for 0/5w20 and I use 5w30 in them all. If I had your stash they would all get this oil, my snowblower, lawnmower, pressure washer, her dads riding mower….. everything would be using 5w30 truck and suv
