oil filter for 6.0L diesel

Got a question for you guys. i was at walmart last night to buy the oil filter adn noticed to my surprise that the inside element is all that gets replaced. My question is walmart has a autolite filter that looks identical to the motorcraft (same patent number, both made in germany). Is the autolite just as good? (it's $5 cheaper). Also, anything special i need to know about changing this filter?

This filter # is often outsourced by filter manufacturers not tooled up to produce it. It probably says Hengst germany of the top of the filter in yellow or white letters. Use whatever one is cheaper, they are the same filter, with the Autolite just being a reboxed "Motorcraft".

thanks lube owner. The filters looked identical so that is what i thought. I ended up buying a purolator for about $15 which was the same price as the autolite. Is this purolator style filter better or worse then the autolite?

I also saw the Purolater filter for the 6.0, but was not comfortable with where it said it was made, maybe Thailand or India or somewhere. I would rather get one made in Germany or Canada, or USA, or even a Donaldson, Hecho en Mexico!

any thoughts on the quality of the ebay filters? The brand is TVI ??? ANyone ever heard of them?
