would there be any reason to go with an oil filter other than OEM. I am aware of TSB suggesting Hyundai oil filters, but are there any better options out there. I can get Hyundai filters for about 6.00, but price really doesn't matter, without much knowledge on this I am asking on the pretense "you get what you pay for".

I've used NapaGold, FramXG/TG, and OEM in our 2.0T without a hint of extra noise or other issue. If getting the OEM is feasible, go for it. But don't worry if you cannot do so and end up getting an aftermarket filter.

As for efficiency, i've never seen the OEM numbers. We do know that the XG are probably at or near the top of this list.

There are MANY postings on this subject in the forum. The consensus is that the OEM filter is the way to go.

Personally, I am using this filter on 3 Hyundia/Kias with no issues for over 5 years.

I talked to my dealer's parts manager, and he sold me a 10 filter pack for $50.

I would say use a Fram Ultra but during the warranty period you won't be able to run it multiple times so oem during the warranty period and after that run the Ultra for two changes.

There are numerous discussions/reports of issues with spikes in oil
pressure on some Hyundai/Kia engines from 2011 on. This may or may not cause a filter to bulge, leak or come off. Hyundai has not, as far as I am aware, admitted to a problem They have issued statements indicating that the OEM filters could withstand the spike in pressure, if in fact it were to ever happen. Fram has published a statement that their OF4459 (branded under different names) would withstand the increase in pressure.
