Oil Filter Choice for ATS 3.6

Hey guys,

Just looking for some feedback for the cartridge oil filter for a Cadillac ATS 3.6.

Only the Fram XG8765 seems to be available in my local parts store.

I'm thinking of ordering a WIX 57090 or 57090XP, or the Mobil 1 M1C-254.

I've used Mobil 1 Extended Performance oil and Mobil 1 filters in the past for another vehicle, since it would always go on sale and be easy to procure.

My son has a 2008 Cadillac CTS with the 3.6. He changes oil according to the OLM. Uses Canadian Tire synthetic [buys it on sale] and any one of the cheaper filters available at the local parts store. Could be a fram extra guard and/or a Chinese clone. Has not had any problems doing this.

I have had 2 CTS with the 3.6, still have one right now, and a couple BiLs with STSs and the 3.6 motor. I have not seen that big a difference from 1 to the other to be honest. I just ordered the closeout ones from rockauto.

The biggest thing on these cars, motors, is the keep the oil level in the safe range. Check the oil every 1000 miles or once a month. Use a name brand syn oil, I am using valvoline right now, and change it when the OLM gets to around 20%.

I would use the Fram XG8765. The Fram synthetic line is well regarded.
Another good choice is the OEM filter.
