Oil filter cheapies on Amazon... thoughts???

They’re a well-known brand and have a decent reputation for the price. Premium Guard is hit or miss it might work fine, but it’s kind of a gamble.

Currently Premium Guard has some of the best quality filters. I do prefer the EX model.(Carquest Premium, Microgard Select)

I would go nuts on the premium guard 4612s if I were you. I have probably 2 dozen filters on hand otherwise I would be buying up

Sorry, don't have links, but these were in the ubiquitous Honda 7317 or 15400 size.
The price on the US made TL14610 with Amazon algorithm pricing goes through some crazy price swings. I do see it currently for the $2.40 that you mention but have seen it recently 'significantly' higher much of the time. Having seen a US made TL14610 dissected by WhipCityWrencher some time ago I purchased a few at $2.40. Put one on a neighbor's 04 Civic for her last oil change and curious to see how it does, I expect fine. For a budget filter seems worth that money. But get it soon, if history an indicator won't be that price long. My 'suspicion' is that these show up with resellers on ebay, driving the price up on Amazon.

The center tube is just cut with a shear and spot welded. Ok but one I bought has needle like points inside as the shear went through the holes. The bypass valve seal seems to be like a rubber not nylon. I got for $2.40 awhile back made in India. Seemed like a great looking filter otherwise.
Now I bought a Fram PH4386 for $4+ to see what that’s all about. Prices are all over the board. Amazon is so big now, money means nothing on the small scale, and I guess, only a guess, they move stock that is accumulating.

Same. I have 2 cases of these, plus a case of the XL ones. Both are fine for my OCI's.

I also have a case and a half of the MAZDA OEM Japan filters. I have said it many times, if I'm not spinning on an OEM, it will be a Premium Guard on the Mazdas. Currently running the Pentius XL6607 (Premium Guard) on the Mazda 3.

Just stay away from cheap oil filters.
They are important and only cost you every few months for $15-$20.
Save your engine and with those cheap filters , please change that oil at 3k miles like the oil filter states . Cost you less in the Red long run by purchasing 20k mile oil and filter and swap it out at 10k-15k miles cheaper, better.

Your grammar structure is a little hard to follow, but if I am tracking, you are confusing cheap price with cheap quality which is not the case here.

Depends on what filter you're talking about. Premium Guard makes a 5K oil filter you can get on sale quite often for $1-$3 depending on sale. I got two cases for $.79 a filter (It was less than $8 for the whole case.) Outstanding filter for 5K.
